Detox All the Way With a Non-Toxic Infrared Sauna

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are all around you. Home products like furniture or flooring can release these harmful chemicals for years in a process called off-gassing. Unfortunately, off-gassing can happen with home infrared saunas as well. That’s why it’s crucial to purchase infrared saunas from reputable distributors whose products use non-toxic materials and have been extensively tested for safety. Komowa is one of these distributors. Keep reading to discover why a non-toxic infrared sauna is the only way to go.

The Dangers of Home Sauna Off-Gassing

If you’ve ever purchased a new piece of furniture and smelt the fresh paint odor or experienced a distinct scent when unpacking a new memory foam mattress, you’re familiar with off-gassing. Though the initial off-gassing is already harmful, it gets even worse when you discover that many low-quality objects continue releasing chemicals even when the “new smell” wears off. So, not smelling an odor doesn’t necessarily mean there’s no off-gassing.

That’s why investing in a high-quality, non-toxic infrared sauna is essential. Otherwise, you expose yourself and your family to dangerous toxins. Now, not all VOCs are necessarily toxic. But given that some of them can increase the risk of cancer, it’s better not to take any chances.

At best, inhaling VOCs will lead to temporary discomfort (e.g., stuffiness). But at worst, it opens the door to serious health complications. In particular, VOCs can wreak havoc on children and adults with respiratory problems and a weak immune system. And given that an infrared sauna is sometimes used as a part of the treatment for the latter individuals, it’s pertinent to ensure that it doesn’t introduce harmful off-gassing compounds that can exacerbate the issue.

With a non-toxic infrared sauna from Komowa, you’ll only improve your health condition, not worsen it.

What Makes the Saunas From Komowa’s Collection Non-Toxic?

When it comes to infrared saunas, Komowa only offers products from the U.S.-based brand Health Mate. Interestingly, this brand was the first to introduce infrared home saunas to the U.S. market in 1979. With over 40 years of experience in sauna manufacturing, Health Mate doesn’t play around with the quality of its saunas. Every sauna from this brand (and sold at Komowa) is a non-toxic infrared sauna thanks to three things – a tightly monitored manufacturing process, direct wood sourcing, and UL-listed heaters.

The Manufacturing Process

Health Mate owns its own factory. This allows the company to monitor every step of the manufacturing process closely. The process in question has as many as five stages of quality control (while many other infrared sauna manufacturers barely have one). Thanks to such a meticulous approach to manufacturing, Health Mate can guarantee that each sauna it produces meets the highest safety and quality standards.

The Wood

The materials used for a home sauna can make or break its safety. Go for a cheap and unethically sourced wood, and avoiding home sauna off-gassing becomes impossible. That’s why Health Mate is directly involved with the lumber side of the sauna manufacturing, directly sourcing wood that poses no health risks when heated.

The brand primarily uses two wood species – eucalyptus and Western red cedar. Both are eco-friendly, naturally non-microbial, and, most importantly, non-toxic. They require no dangerous chemical treatments as their engineering life cycle begins.

The Heaters

While they’re not similar in nature or composition, VOCs and EMFs (electromagnetic fields) have one thing in common – they can be detrimental to human health. Since EMFs are emitted from electrical components and not wood, ensuring every electronically charged part of an electric light infrared sauna is as safe as its construction is critical.

To ensure this, Health Mate uses patented heaters that produce the lowest EMF levels. The same goes for controllers, panels, and other electric elements. Plus, Health Mate’s patented heaters feature no epoxy or tape that can cause off-gassing, as some carbon fiber panels used for heating infrared saunas do.

When purchasing a Health Mate sauna from Komowa, whether a built-in or a portable model, you can rest assured you’re getting a non-toxic infrared sauna that prioritizes your safety and health.
